地理位置
福爾摩沙，美麗之島，是16世紀時葡萄牙人稱呼這個令他們驚豔的美麗島嶼。台灣面積有三萬六千平方公里，南北長395公里，東西寬度144公里，環島海岸線長約1139公里，位於中國東南沿海的中心，交通便捷、四通八達。年均溫22度；氣候怡人、文化多元、自然生態豐富、人民友善，是一個絕佳的旅遊地點。

Geography
Formosa, which means “beautiful island”, is what the Portuguese called Taiwan when they came here in the 16th century and saw the island's verdant beauty. Taiwan is located along the southeast coast of the Asian Continent. This solitary island covers an area of approximately 36,000 square kilometers, and is 395 km long and 144 km wide. The total length of its simple and straight coastline is about 1139 km. With the mild climate, the diverse and rich culture, the friendly people and the unparalleled ecological diversity, all these features make Taiwan an ideal travel destination.

天氣
台灣同時有熱帶、亞熱帶、及溫帶的氣候造就了四季分明的天氣型態。全年溫暖，年均溫約為22度，平均最低溫約在12-17度(54- 63℉)，因此十分適合旅行。這裡的冬天看不到靄靄白雪，只有在少數的高山地區，有降雪的機率。台灣的夏天﹝6月-8月﹞，會有颱風經過，必須留意氣象報導。台灣短暫而溫暖的冬天﹝12月-2月﹞，是賞楓和泡湯的最好季節。

Climate
Taiwan's tropical, sub-tropical, and temperate climates provide clear differentiation between different seasons. With the warm weather all year round, Taiwan is extremely suitable for traveling. The annual average temperature is a comfortable 22 degrees Celsius with lowest temperatures ranging from 12 to 17 degrees Celsius (54-63 Fahrenheit). With the exception of a few mountain areas where some traces of snow can be found during winter, no snow can be seen throughout Taiwan. During summer (June to August), typhoons sometimes hit the island, travelers should keep an eye on weather reports. Taiwan's relatively warm and short winter (Nov. to Feb.) is the best time to admire the beautiful maple trees and enjoy the soothing hot spring.

人口、語言
台灣人口有2300萬人，多數集中於西部四個大城市(台北、台南、台中、高雄)。豐富多元的歷史背景，造就了多彩多姿的台灣文化。閩南、客家、外省及原住民等不同的族群，在這個島上和平共處。官方語言是中文，不過因為有許多台灣人是大陸福建移民的後裔，所以閩南話也很普遍。在人文風貌方面，由於兼融閩南、客家、外省及原住民等不同的族群，形成一個多元文化的社會。

Demographics
Taiwan has a population of 23 million. The population of Taiwan is primarily concentrated in four metropolitan areas (Taipei, Kaohsiung, Taichung, and Tainan). Different ethnic groups, such as the immigrants of various provinces of Mainland China, Hakka people, Min-Nan people, and indigenous people, have shared this island peacefully. The official language is Mandarin Chinese. However, since many Taiwanese are of southern Fujianese descent, Min-Nan Hua (the Southern Min dialect) is also widely spoken. The blending of Hakka, Taiwanese, indigenous people and Mainland Chinese cultures has produced a rich multi-cultural society.

中文學習
台灣是學習中文的絕佳地點，有許多語言學校提供中文教學，由鐘點課程到授與學分的大學課程都有，所以許多歐美人士會利用渡假或花一、兩年的時間來台灣學習中文。

Language Learning
Taiwan is the most ideal place to learn Chinese. There are numerous language schools that offer Chinese classes, ranging from hourly-based classes to recognized university programs. Many foreigners from Europe and the United States, as well as other areas, come to Taiwan to spend their holidays, or one or two years, studying Chinese.

台北
台北位於台北盆地，是全台最大的城市，也是台灣的首都。台北不只是政府的行政中心，也是傳統藝術和都會生活的文藝中心。在台北市的世界級的劇院和音樂廳經常有許多很棒的藝術表演。世界知名的台北故宮博物院就珍藏著一大批來自中國的古董和藝術作品。除此之外，台北還有許多大型購物商場，夜總會，音樂酒吧，異國風味的餐廳，及品質良好的旅館。

Taipei
Taipei city is located in the Taipei basin of northern Taiwan and is the largest city in Taiwan. Taipei is the current capital of the Republic of China. Taipei serves not only an administrative center of government, but also as the cultural center of traditional arts and cosmopolitan life. Taipei has a large number of first-class performance venues for world-class theater and concert activities. The world-renowned National Palace Museum houses a huge collection of Chinese antiques and art works. The city also offers a wide range of other diversions, including: shopping malls, nightclubs, live-music bars, exotic restaurants and quality hotels.

台中
台中位於台灣西半部的樞紐位置，年均溫約在23℃。因地理位置與文化發展的淵源，台中不僅是南來北往的中心，更匯聚了多元文化。國立台灣美術館、國立科學博物館與台中市文化局共築成美學、文化與知識的鐵三角。台中市茶坊林立，也是廣受歡迎的珍珠奶茶發源地。林立的百貨公司、各有特色的商圈、精品名店、歐式風味的精明商圈，以及美術園道的椰林餐廳，都讓台中市有如巴黎香榭大道的優雅浪漫，滿足所有不同品味的拜訪者。

Taichung
Taichung is located in central Taiwan and the city's annual average temperature is 23℃. Long known as Taiwan's "culture city", Taichung is dotted with excellent cultural attractions, including national Taiwan Museum of Fine Arts, National Science Museum, and Taichung Cultural Affair Bureau. Taichung is famous for its hundreds of teahouses and cafes, spread across the entire city. “Milk pearl tea” is thought to have originated from here. Filled with high end department stores and shopping malls, classy shopping streets, and lively night markets, Taichung surely can satisfy the different tastes of international shoppers.

高雄
高雄市位於台灣西南部，地形南北狹長,總
面積約 154 平方公里，西臨台灣海峽，南近巴士海峽。華語、台語、客語、原住民語言等在南台灣都是很普遍使用的語言。年均溫為攝氏24.4 度。海灣自然天成，是東北亞通往南太平洋要道，同時高雄也具備國際機場，與亞洲許多城市有直飛航線，造就這個城市大步邁向國際化。
Kaohsiung
 Kaohsiung is located in Taiwan’s Southwestern region and it covers an area of 154 square kilometers. The Taiwan Straits are located to the west and the Bashi Channel to the south. The annual average temperature is 24.4C. Mandarin, Taiwanese, Hakkanese and a number of aboriginal languages are used commonly in this southern city. Geographically, the large harbor makes Kaohsiung an important trade and commerce stop along the Northeast Asia / South Pacific passageway as well as the possessing of an international airport, all these features have quickly propelled the development of this international city.
