Geography
Australia is the sixth largest country in the world, and with only a Population of 17.5 million. This smallest continent covers an area of 2.97 million square miles and has a coastline of 36,735km. This nation consists of six States and two Territories, including: New South Wales, Victoria, Queens land, South Australia, Western Australia, Tasmania, Australian Capital Territory, Northern Territory. Canberra is the capital city. Other major cities are Brisbane, Sydney, Perth, Melbourne, and Adelaide.
Australia’s official language is English, and its best-known animals are the kangaroo, koala, platypus and spiny anteater.

Demographics
Despite that Australia is the only nation to occupy an entire continent, it has, however, a relatively small population. Most of the population is concentrated along the eastern seaboard and the southeastern corner of the continent. Australia's culturally diverse society includes its Indigenous peoples and settlers from countries all around the world. Since 1945, over six million people from 200 countries have come to Australia as new settlers. Immigration is an important feature of Australian society.

The Great Barrier Reef supports a wide diversity of life, and was selected as a World Heritage Site in 1981.

Brisbane, the State Capital of Queens land, is in the southeast corner of the state. It is famous for its great weather, exciting events and cultural scene. With a population of approximately two million, it is the third most populous city in Australia. The city is centred along the Brisbane River. Popular tourist and recreation areas in Brisbane include the South Bank Parkland, the City Botanic Gardens, and Lone Pine Koala Sanctuary. Founded in 1927, this sanctuary is the world's oldest and largest Koala Sanctuary.
黃金海岸
